MEMBERSHIP

·     Membership shall be open to anyone who has an interest in assisting the Group to achieve its aim and is willing to adhere to the rules of the Group.

·     To be a member, an annual fee is to be paid, with the price fixed by the Management Committee.

·     There will be two memberships made available – an individual membership and a school membership, the former allowing one person a discount to NISDA conferences and the latter providing any number of employees of that institution a discount.  Each membership model is £5.

·     Individual membership may be granted to anyone who has an interest in assisting the Group to achieve its aim and is willing to adhere to the rules of the Group.

·     An application for school membership must be signed by a senior member of the institution and is granted on the understanding that any representative from that school has the school’s authority to speak on behalf of the school in meetings and represents its views.

·     Membership will last until the end of the financial year, which ends on 31 March each year and anyone joining partway through still pays the full fee.

·     Membership entitles individual members to vote at the Annual General Meeting and each school member shall have a vote for each representative present up to a maximum of 5 votes. Membership also allows an individual member or any representative of a school member to stand for election to the Management Committee.

·     Termination of an individual membership may be thought necessary if an individual’s behaviour is deemed to be detrimental to the organisation, and the majority decision of the members is final (in the event of a tied vote the Chair is provided with a casting vote). The same procedure may be used in the same circumstances to issue a formal instruction to a school member to withdraw one of its representatives from involvement with the Association.

·     For those who can’t attend the conference every year, but still wish to be a member of NISDA, the £5 membership can be paid directly to Jo Brayton (Treasurer) with a reference using "MEMBERNAME" i.e. "MEMBERPERSE" (School) or "MEMBERHAWKS" (individual)
